Dutch IS Group Signs Unique Cloud Computing Agreement with Microsoft

PURMEREND, the Netherlands, August 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

- Hybrid Cloud OS Microsoft strategy requires new role of service providers

IS Group, Dutch market leader in cloud computing and IT Services signed an agreement with Microsoft to deliver hybrid cloud computing solutions for business-critical e-commerce websites, media services and Software-as-a-Service companies. This collaboration symbolizes the new role of the service provider.

HYBRID CLOUDS

Central to this collaboration is the so-called hybrid cloud. This makes it possible to connect separate components of an IT infrastructure (on-premise, private cloud and public cloud) so that applications and data can run at the most suitable place. This can be a particular location or country, or even distributed all over the world. Microsoft Azure provides cloud capacity on a global scale. IS takes care of the 24/7 management of the hybrid cloud environment and offers a wide range of managed services as well as extensive monitoring and reporting possibilities.

INNOVATIVE PROPOSITION

Jan Willem des Tombe, CEO of IS Group: "With this innovative proposition we eliminate a number of important barriers for the adoption of cloud computing as a complete IT solution. We provide the knowledge and expertise to move into the cloud and we guarantee the availability and performance of the cloud. In addition, we are responsible for the security of applications and data. The specific knowledge of IS as a Dutch service provider in combination with the global scale of Microsoft Azure makes this a unique and compelling proposition."

THE NEW ROLE OF THE SERVICE PROVIDER

"With the fast growth and adoption of cloud computing as a full IT solution, the role of the service provider also shifts. Instead of primarily being the supplier of IT capacity, the new service provider will increasingly focus on advising and assisting companies and institutions in making the transition to the cloud. Subsequently the service provider will take care of IT management and enrich the cloud solutions with the right IT services and guarantee on availability and performance. This vision of IS Group fits seamlessly with the Microsoft Cloud OS strategy" says Jan Willem des Tombe.

MICROSOFT CLOUD OS STRATEGY

"As cloud and mobility become increasingly important a new role for service providers arises. IS Group is a good example of the new service provider. By integrating private, hosted and public Azure cloud platforms, existing IT can perform better and faster. With Cloud OS, IS Group is better able to deliver optimal control, security and continuity," says Isabel Moll, business group lead server and cloud platforms at Microsoft.

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on...
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...

To Really Work for Enterprises, MultiCloud Adoption Requires Far Better and Inclusive Cloud Monitoring and Cost Management … But How? Overwhelmingly, even as enterprises have adopted cloud computing and are expanding to multi-cloud computing, IT leaders remain concerned about how to monitor, manage and control costs across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. It’s clear that traditional IT monitoring and management approaches, designed after all for on-premises data centers, are falling short in ...
