“Our Nokia customers are excited about Omni delivering this new GroupWise wireless email option," said Jon Gerdes, Managing Director for Blueloop (www.blueloop.net), a UK-based consulting service firm and Omni reseller. "The Nokia Series 60 phones are among the world's most popular with over 50 million having been sold. Our customers rely on their S60 phones for secure, reliable, wireless email and productivity solutions. With the immediate availability of Omni Mobile for Nokia S60 and Omni's announcement of future support for Eseries devices (E60, E61 and E70), our Nokia customers have an exciting new option to meet their GroupWise wireless email and collaboration needs."
"By adding Nokia Series 60 support to Omni Mobile, we are responding to the needs of our global customers who depend on Nokia Series 60 phones for mobile communication," explains Aldo Zanoni, CEO and Managing Director for Omni. "In additon to being able to deploy their mobile platform of choice, Omni Mobile customers appreciate the simplicity of Omni Mobile and the fact that it installs directly on their existing GroupWise servers. Unlike other GroupWise wireless email solutions, Omni Mobile does not require a Windows server be installed as the mobile gateway. Omni Mobile delivers a unique and substantial value proposition because it leverages customers' existing investment in Novell NetWare, SUSE Linux or Microsoft Windows GroupWise servers. There are no additional firewall configuration requirements, no additional protocols to configure, no external databases to manage and no additional backup, anti-virus or server patching requirements."
"Omni Mobile's ability to deliver cross-platform mobile device support is directly tied to our use of Crossfire from AppForge," continues Zanoni. "By using Crossfire as our development platform, we are able to add support for new mobile platforms and operating systems without having to rewrite Omni Mobile for each specific platform. The next platforms to be supported by Omni Mobile for GroupWise will be Nokia Series 60 Third Generation phones and BlackBerry devices."
