Apprenda, a private platform-as-a-service (PaaS) for developing, delivering and managing next-generation cloud applications, today launched version 4.0 of its flagship platform.
Apprenda 4.0 will set the model for how to modernize existing mission-critical enterprise applications and build new cloud architected applications and services, extending its leadership in best-of-breed support for Windows-based cloud environments.
Enterprises Extend Datacenter to Windows Azure
Apprenda connects Windows Server 2012 environments with cloud-based Windows Azure resources, achieving a hybrid cloud PaaS approach for enterprises. Windows Azure users can use Apprenda to develop, deploy and manage cloud applications without conflict with private PaaS.
“Windows Azure is a global, scalable cloud platform that gives developers flexibility to target public, private, and hybrid cloud environments,” said Bill Hilf, General Manager, Windows Azure Marketing. “Apprenda helps enterprises utilize Windows Azure’s strengths so that applications can take advantage of public and private PaaS scenarios.”
Single-Click Hybrid Cloud
Apprenda enterprises want hybrid cloud architectures. In 4.0, IT can apply resource policies to infrastructure and applications in seconds, moving them with a simple single-click feature across the boundaries from private to public cloud or can set policies for doing so automatically based on business needs and parameters.
“Hybrid cloud is helping traditional enterprises become more comfortable with Net-based application development,” said James Governor, RedMonk founding analyst. “Organizations want common tooling for deployment, monitoring, security and management across public and private cloud; Apprenda is targeting this deployment flexibility directly with its 4.0 release.”
Enterprises Easily Embrace Mobile, Other App Patterns
As enterprises extend their application portfolios to embrace mobile, multi-tenant and other cloud application types, Apprenda extends its market-leading developer cloud platform for deployment and management with technology that helps keep the focus on product innovation. As a best-of-breed platform for Windows Server and .NET, Apprenda 4.0 adds support for all Windows and Visual Studio integration and extends support for all of Microsoft’s latest releases, including .NET 4.5, SQL Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012.
Developers increase productivity in building next generation cloud architected applications and modernizing existing application portfolio with minimal adjustment to code.
Apprenda 4.0 has best-in-class operation advancements in third-party authorization and authentication systems designed to improve agility in application deployment and deployment policies to implement governance, risk management and compliance (GRC). With new System Center 2012 integration, Apprenda can run across multiple datacenters (private/public/hosted) and yet be managed centrally.
