Sanbolic Melio Supports Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager to Back up Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V

Provides Flexible Back up for Hyper-V Virtual Machines

BERLIN -- (Marketwire) -- 11/08/10 -- Sanbolic announced that Melio 2010 storage management software suite can be used with Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2010 to back up virtual machines running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V. Melio enables a snapshot of all virtual machines to be taken from any server in the Hyper-V host cluster, greatly simplifying back up. Customers can now use Microsoft System Center to invoke Melio's snapshot and centrally backup all virtual machines. DPM support will be available in December 2010.

Melio 2010 provides a unified storage platform for Hyper-V, physical servers, and virtual machines running Windows applications such as SQL Server, Exchange Server and SharePoint Server. When used in conjunction with industry standard storage area network infrastructure, Melio 2010 provides centralized provisioning and management of logical volumes, as well as shared access to storage volumes for storage consolidation, application availability, and scale out. Melio 2010 now includes storage traffic shaping and quality of service management that allows granular management of storage bandwidth. Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V and Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 automatically configure a Sanbolic Melio 2010 volume as an active-active storage resource, simplifying deployment.

"Sanbolic's Melio 2010 can be used with Hyper-V and System Center Virtual Machine Manager, providing advanced storage management capabilities to enterprise customers," said Dai Vu, director of solutions marketing in the Windows Server and Cloud division at Microsoft Corp. "Sanbolic's support for DPM 2010 provides joint customers with a flexible option for backing up virtualized applications."

Sanbolic distributes its product solutions worldwide through a network of distributors, OEMs, value-added resellers and system integrators. Sanbolic will be exhibiting at Microsoft Tech*Ed Europe 2010 in Berlin, November 8-12 in the Microsoft System Center Pavilion. Evaluation software can be downloaded at www.sanbolic.com.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things').
